2009 TCRA QUEEN CONTEST RULES

Must be between the ages
of 17 (by January 1st of the year you try out for) and 27 years of
age. May be single or married, living in Tillamook County, or a county
whose border touches Tillamook County.

Must be able to furnish
your own horse or have a written lease agreement for the use of a
horse suitable for the activities that you will be asked to
participate in for the entire year, and approval of horse or horses
must be obtained from the Queens Director/Advisor. Stallions, wet
mares or mares in last months of pregnancy are not allowed. Proof of insurance for you and your
horse must be provided. The liability and medical release must be
signed and submitted prior to the pageant.

Must be willing to
travel to all speaking engagements, rodeos and parades and other
events as designated by the TCRA, including all monthly TCRA
association meetings. Activities and appointments begin January 1,
2009 and are scheduled through the month of December of the same year. Also, you will be expected to help at the rodeo the summer
following your reign, by carrying the flag for Grand Entry in both
Saturday and Sunday performances of the Tillamook County Rodeo 2010.

Three qualified judges shall judge all sections of the contest.
The judges will be selected by the Queens Coordinator/Advisor.

You shall wear
appropriate western attire complete with hat and boots, for both the
speaking and horsemanship trials. Your horse shall be clean and in
good health and suitable for the activity you are participating in. Equipment shall be clean and in good repair.

Awards will be given in 6 (six) categories at this
pageant: Knowledge, Speech, Personality, Horsemanship, Appearance
& Photogenics. And award for congeniality and spirit may also be
given.

You will be required to
give a 2-3 minute speech. The speech & personality division will
be judged on poise, ability to project oneself, voice expressiveness,
and appearance, knowledge of rodeo and current events. Appearance
includes overall attractiveness, grooming, posture and current trends
and styles. Rodeo knowledge includes both Tillamook County Rodeo and
the NPRA events and contestants. You will be asked impromptu questions about any
topic including, but limited to, current events. As a contestant, you
will be required to attend a pre-pageant meeting. The date will be
announced..

Horsemanship will be
judged on your control of yourself and your horse at all times. You will be allowed
to bring only one horse to use for the entire contest. The judges are
evaluating you, and your ability to ride and control your animal. We
are looking for a cowgirl to represent the Tillamook Rodeo.
