Contestants must be between the ages of 17, and 27 years of age as of January 1, 2010. Contestants may be single or married, living in Tillamook County, or a county whose border touches Tillamook County. Contestants shall not have had children, been pregnant or become pregnant during the reign or be responsible for children.

During the reign representing the Tillamook County Rodeo Association, the Queen will be the “Ambassador” for the Tillamook County Rodeo and will be expected to portray the highest of moral standards and show the ideals of womanhood. Appearance shall reflect as being ”on the job” at all times setting an example beyond reproach.

Drinking of alcoholic beverages or use of drugs will not be permitted while you are representing the Tillamook County Rodeo Association at designated activities. Smoking of tobacco is not prohibited, but will not be permitted while participating at a designated function. The TCRA Queen will be expected to uphold the proper lady-like image of a Rodeo Queen. The use of inappropriate behavior and/or language will not be tolerated while representing the Tillamook County Rodeo. This includes any and all information text or photos on or in any internet chat rooms including, but not limited to, “My Space, You Tube, Facebook, i.e.

Contestants must be able to furnish their own horse or have a written lease agreement for the use of a horse suitable for the activities that they will be asked to participate in for the entire reign. Stallions are not allowed. Horse used for the contest shall be used the entire year, unless sickness or injury requires substitution, then approval of the Queens Director/Advisor must be obtained. Proof of insurance for you and your horse must be provided. Sign the liability and medical release.

Contestants must be willing and able to travel to all speaking engagements, rodeos and parades and other events as designated by the TCRA, including all monthly TCRA association meetings. Activities begin in December following coronation, and are scheduled through the month of November of the following year. The new Queen will be expected to help at the rodeo the summer, following her reign, by carrying the flag for Grand Entry in both Saturday and Sunday performances of the Tillamook Co Rodeo 2012.

The contest requires three (3) judges, they will judge all sections of the contest. There are 5 sections to this contest; Modeling, Speech & Personality, Parade and Horsemanship.

Contestants shall wear appropriate western attire consisting of jeans, well fitted western shirt, hat, belt, and boots, for both the speaking and horsemanship trials. Contestants horse shall be clean and in good health. Equipment shall be clean and in good repair.

Contestants will be required to give a 2-3 minute speech. The speech & personality division will be judged on poise, ability to project oneself and communicate with others, voice expressiveness, appearance, knowledge of rodeo and current events. Appearance includes overall attractiveness grooming, posture, and current trends and styles. Rodeo knowledge includes both Tillamook County Rodeo and the NPRA. Applicants will be asked impromptu questions about any or all of the above topics.

Horsemanship will be judged on contestants control of themselves and the horse at all times. Applicants will be allowed to bring only one (1) horse to use for the entire contest. The judges are evaluating the Applicant, and their ability to ride and control their horse.
