Queen Shalaina Joiner

Hello everyone, my name is Shalaina Joiner and I am proud to
be your 2008 Rodeo Queen for the 22nd Annual Tillamook County Rodeo!
I'm the 19 year old daughter of Troy and Karen Joiner and
KaCee Joiner and currently reside in Clatskanie, Oregon. In 2006 I graduated
from Mark Morris High School where I competed on the volleyball and softball
teams, was a member of the school newspaper staff, mentored lower classmen
in the LINK mentor program, and earned college credits through the Running
Start program. I completed 9 years of 4-H in Columbia County and qualified
and completed at the state level in ground training and Horse Bowl. I was
president of my club for 5 years and enjoyed being a camp counselor for 4
years at the Columbia County 4-H Summer Camp. I am currently still involved
with camp as a member of the staff.

After High School I continued taking classes at Lower Columbia College and
this spring I will have earned an Associates Degree. Next fall I will be
transferring to Washington State University in Vancouver, WA to continue
by education and earn my bachelors degree. I currently work at a local
tack and feed store.
If I'm not working, in class, or at a rodeo you can always find me
showing, gaming, team penning or trail riding with my family and our 5
quarter horses and paints. My parents bought be my first horse when I was
just 3 years old, and ever since I have been 100% American Cowgirl! My
love for rodeo started at a young age when I first started competing in
the Northwest Youth Rodeo Association. That love sparked my desire to
represent rodeo as rodeo royalty, and that dream became reality when I won
my first title and last year I represented the Columbia County Rodeo as
one of their 2007 Princesses.

This year I am honored to represent the Tillamook County Rodeo as their
2008 Queen. As Queen, I travel the Northwest attending other great rodeos,
parades and functions sharing my love for rodeo and representing the great
town of Tillamook and its rodeo! My rodeo and parade partner this year is
my 10 year old American Quarter Horse mare, Miss Silky Sensation,
also fondly known as "Missy".
The 22nd Annual Tillamook County Rodeo promises to be in full swing on
the 28th and 29th of June. So to see some of the toughest cowboys,
cowgirls and rough stock in the Northwest has to offer, be sure to make
your way to the famous Oregon Coast for the Biggest Little Show on the
Coast...The Tillamook County Rodeo!
